Junior Subs 2017

Inverurie Golf Club boasts a healthy junior section, of both boys and girls run by a team of experienced adult golfing members.

Competitions are played on every Monday from 3-15 to 4pm and 5-45 - 6.15pm from the beginning of April to September during school terms. During the school summer holidays, juniors can also arrange to play their Monday competitions during the day by booking tee times through the Professional shop.

Female junior members with an LGU handicap may take part in Ladies and Mixed competitions. Male juniors with a handicap of 12 or less may also play in Gents or Mixed competitions.

There is a single fee category for Juniors. After age 18, juniors are eligible for membership to the youth category.

A blue section has recently been formed which allows the younger members to play 6, 9 or 14 holes on Mondays depending on their standard. Certificates are awarded at the end of the season to mark their progress.

Our junior team participates in the Aberdeen and District Pennant League along with several individual and other team events throughout the year. Scratch and handicap matches mean that all standards of players can benefit from competitive games. Results and other information on the Junior section are posted in the Club News section.

The Junior Committee welcomes all new junior members to our Golf Club and aim to make their first experience of golf a happy one.

The Junior section is grateful for sponsorship that it receives from several companies. More information about these companies is available on the Sponsors page.

clubgolf at Inverurie Golf Club

ClubGolf logo sm clubgolf - What is it?

At Inverurie Golf Club we have been running a successful clubgolf junior coaching programme since 2005.

Clubgolf is offered across Scotland, helping to introduce children to the game of golf.

Clubgolf is perfect for youngsters looking to try a new sport, whether they’ve already picked up a golfclub or they are brand new to the game. Clubgolf is the ideal coaching programme to help juniors progress and enjoy golf.

There are lots of fun clubgolf competitions and events to get involved in too. Golf really is a great way to get outdoors, keep active and meet new people. So jump in and start playing today.

We have a number of PGA Level 1 Volunteer coaches at Inverurie Golf Club who are fully trained to deliver the Stage 1 and 2 clubgolf programme. Our Stage 3 is delivered by our Club Professional, Steven McLean. In addition we have a team of dedicated club volunteer helpers who assist the coaches in the delivery of lessons.

All volunteer coaches and helpers are PVG checked and attend Safe Guarding Children Training courses.

Clubgolf is delivered first in primary school to all P5 pupils usually between February and March in curriculum time by class teachers and suitably trained and disclosure checked volunteers. On completion of the delivery in school, children then receive a letter of invitation from their local Golf Club inviting them to attend Clubgolf Stage 1 Coaching programme.

For more details contact John Murray, our Clubgolf Coordinator, on 01467 624080.

Welcome to the Senior Ladies Section

Every Thursday morning you can see the Senior Ladies teeing up for a game of golf. We have around 45 members of 50 years of age and over who play every Thursday morning teeing off between 9.05 and 10.29.

There are three competitions, as well as Monthly Medals and Handicap Championship, that we play for during the summer season with a Stableford Competition during the winter months. At the beginning and end of of the summer months we have a friendly match, then lunch, with the Gents Senior Section.

Inverurie Senior Ladies are also members of the Senior Buchan Ladies Tour that plays at eight other Golf Course around the area during the summer. Around 24 of our Section are members of this Tour.

We have an annual outing every June, and although it is very relaxed, we still have a trophy to present to the day's winner.
The Christmas lunch includes our prize-giving for the 'summers clever girls'.

We are a very friendly group and enjoy our golf, weather permitting, but if inclement, when we don't play golf - we still meet up for a coffee and snack (and gossip) in the Clubhouse.
